JEANIE KARTALIAN, MD
Jeanie Kartalian is a pediatrician who has dedicated over a
decade to the advocacy of children. Her belief in the benefits
of a children’s museum has led to her service on the Board of
Directors at the Children’s Museum of Northern Virginia.
As a supporter, organizer, and volunteer in the annual
fundraising galas and the capital campaign for the International
Museum of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Kartalian was able to
experience its growth from a small local organization to an
international museum with a Smithsonian affiliation and
continued expansion. Passionate about encouraging a healthy
active lifestyle in the community, she created a fitness
initiative for Gonzalez Elementary School in Texas, launching
the program with appearances and partnerships with the local
professional sports teams and businesses. In addition to serving
the schools and community organizations, Dr. Kartalian has
practiced as a pediatrician at the Anne Arundel Medical Center
while residing in Annapolis. Prior to enrolling in medical
school, she worked with the Ministry of Education in Nepal as a
volunteer with the Peace Corps.
Her medical degree and residency are from Northwestern
University and Children’s Memorial Hospital. Her undergraduate
degree is in mathematics from Carleton College. She holds a
medical license in Maryland and is a member of the American
Academy of Pediatrics and the Virginia Pediatric Society.
Dr. Kartalian resides with her husband and three children in
Great Falls, Virginia. |
